What do I do if the Zotero Cite toolbar is not working or showing up in Microsoft Office Word?

If you installed Zotero and the cite toolbar is not showing up in Microsoft Word, follow the steps below.

1. Close Word completely.
2. In Zotero, go to Tools and Add-Ons.
3. Make sure that Zotero for Word is Enabled. If not, click to do so and then check Word to see if the toolbar is now there. If not, continue on with the directions below.
4. In Zotero, go to Edit and then Preferences. Click the Cite tab in Preferences.
5. You should now see an option for Word Processors. Click that.
6. In this menu, you should see an Reinstall option for Word. Click that and then open Word to see if the toolbar shows up.

If after that the toolbar is still not showing up, please restart your computer and try again. In rare occasions this still hasn't fixed the issue. You can follow the directions in the link below or you can ask a librarian for further assistance.
